It occurred to me there is no central resource for residents and visitors related to Outdoor Recreation in the Raton area. Information is currently scattered throughout a large number of private organizations and community groups; state, city, and federal agencies; and often word-of-mouth. So although I can hardly cover every single event or explore every inch of public land, I hope this will help fill the information gap.

The long-term goal is to provide easy-to-find information to visitors and perhaps build a community for outdoor enthusiasts to interact and exchange information. The objectives are a catalog of parks and public lands, announcements of outdoor-oriented events in the Raton region, a message board forum, and perhaps a series of downloadable trail maps.

For now the website is really an early-stage work in progress; I hesitate to even take it Live at this point. But I’m very anxious to begin collecting feedback and suggestions.
