Springer Lake is private property that is leased by New Mexico Game and Fish for public access.  Facilities are limited.  During dry years the lake can shrink to a puddle, then refill quickly during monsoon rains.  The property is estimated at 700 acres, and the lake itself measures around 450 acres when full.

Springer Lake is popular with local fishermen, particularly on weekends and after work hours.  State-record fish have been caught in the past, and the lake is stocked by New Mexico Game and Fish.

Hiking Opportunities:  There are no trails but you can walk around the lake, if you can avoid being bogged down in mud.

Paddling Opportunities:  Paddling is allowed, and motorized craft are limited to electric motors only.

Camping Opportunities:  There is no cost for camping at the lake and space is provided near the boat ramp.
