UPDATE: Public Lands Access Restrictions Lifted
After a very dry spring and active fire season, the onset of Monsoon Season has brought higher humidity levels, cooler temperatures, and rain. Shortly after the Fourth of July, 2018, land managers began lifting public access restrictions and lowering fire danger levels.
Carson National Forest, State Lands, Cimarron Canyon State Park, and other parks and public lands are now again open to the public for recreation. Some areas may be restricted due to recent fires, and some burn restrictions remain in place.
It would be wise to check with the appropriate land agency before planning a trip.
